[There's the sound of slight chaos as Cinna's voice, slightly strained, comes over the Network.]

No, madam, I assure you it isn't ninety, eighty, seventy, sixty, fifty, forty, thirty, twenty, ten or even five percent off. And it most certainly isn't two for one.

Don't you know what day this is?

I believe it's Saturday, madam.

You're a right perfect Grinch aren't you?

Madam, I-

A horrible, terrible, awful, anti-Christmas, Grinch!

Madam, please, calm-

[SMACK!] GRINCH!

[There's the sound of someone stomping off and a pause before Cinna speaks again. You can almost hear him rubbing his wounded cheek.]

What kind of curse is this?

[ooc: Cinna, completely uncursed has been overrun today with people asking about sales, deals and giveaways and he is CONFUSED. Also, I couldn't resist - what hiatus?]

What holiday? That Thanksgiving day was this Thursday past. Am I missing something?

You haven't heard of Black Friday, have you?

Yes. I am aware. It's essentially the weekend, the weekend after Thanksgiving to be exact where prices are cut drastically. It's the first time people do their Christmas shopping of the season, usually.

...why are the prices cut? If everyone's shopping, wouldn't it make sense to leave prices as they are for better profit?

Date: 2010-11-28 12:48 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] haspredilection.livejournal.com
Because, it attracts customers and people notoriously buy more. After the weekend, prices return to normal.

Seems to be a great deal of work for one weekend.

Retail is hell for two days.

One of the many reasons I'm more inclined to work on commission-only work.

I'm a stylist, for now I'm focusing on a clothing business, but hope to branch out from there.

Oh, I think I spoke to your friend earlier, Finnick. Not that there can't be multiple stylists running around. Not that you're running around. I'm Taylor.

Yes, Finnick is a friend. And I'm Cinna, it's nice to meet you, Taylor.

And you as well. You don't seem very, "Bah humbug."

Ebeneezer Scrooge. A Christmas Carol. Although, to be more topical, I should've said, your heart doesn't seem two sizes too small...The Grinch.

Grinch - you know the term? Does he have a heart condition?

Date: 2010-11-28 01:11 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] haspredilection.livejournal.com
I do. And, he doesn't. The Grinch lived ontop of this mountain overlooking Who-ville and he basically, dresses as Santa Claus and steals the town's presents. He's surly and miserly.

From: [identity profile] threadthefire.livejournal.com
Ah, now the insult makes a little more sense.

...but who's Santa Claus?

Date: 2010-11-28 01:17 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] haspredilection.livejournal.com
He brings presents to kids across the world. He rides in a sleigh attached to eight reindeer. He's a myth but he's a myth for the benefit of children.

Date: 2010-11-28 01:21 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] haspredilection.livejournal.com
Nope. It's a way of trying to discipline children as well.

[She sings.] He's making a list, checking it twice, gotta' find out who's naughty or nice.

Anyway, bad kids "get" coal.
